Mission/Purpose: ACCION Texas provides credit to small businesses that do not have access to loans from commercial sources. Through its loans and services, ACCION helps microentrepreneurs strengthen their businesses, stabilize and increase their incomes, create additional employment and contribute to the economic revitalization of their communities. Since its 1994 inception, ACCION's loans have created more than $77 million dollars in economic activity in Texas communities.

Avance Dallas

Mission/Purpose: Avance Dallas exists to strengthen families in at-risk Hispanic communities through parent education and support programs. The organization's programs have successfully educated mothers, built community leaders, and combated violence. Both adults and children have benefited from Avance's mission to shift parenting philosophy in order to realize positive social change in North Texas.

Mission/Purpose: The Business Assistance Center (BAC2) of Inner-city Community Development Corporation (ICDC) has served as a resource center that supports the successful growth of start-up and existing small businesses since 1994. Its mission is to create stable, safe and vibrant South Dallas/Fair Park neighborhoods by building partnerships that provide home ownership opportunities, economic development and education.

Dallas City Homes

Mission/Purpose: Formed in 1989, Dallas City Homes develops affordable housing and provides technical assistance and joint venture project development to other community groups. In addition, DCH provides a wide array of support services to its residents and runs a micro-lending program.

Mission/Purpose: The Grameen Foundation's mission is to empower the world's poorest people to lift themselves out of poverty with dignity through access to financial services and to information. GFUSA is a global non-profit organization that combines microfinance, new technologies, and innovation to empower the world's poorest people to escape poverty

Greater Dallas Hispanic Chamber of Commerce

Mission/Purpose:
The GDHCC's mission is to develop, promote, and protect Hispanic businesses in the greater Dallas area and to support the advancement, education, and economic growth of the Hispanic business community. The Chamber serves as a business resource, a forum, and advocate for Hispanic business issues and a united voice for the Hispanic business community.

Jubilee Community Center

Mission/Purpose:
 The mission of Jubilee Park and Community Center Corporation is to be a catalyst for community renewal and enrichment to the Dallas/Fair Park neighborhood, with special emphasis on comprehensive, community revitalization and the education of children and adults. The Center's services improve its community by:
  • Providing after-school and summer programs where children can grow academically and socially
  • Identifying and accessing resources that strengthen family and community ties
  • Building relationships between the cultures of the community, while emphasizing activism and empowerment

Mission/Purpose: The Multi-Ethnic Education and Economic Development Center assists the low-to-moderate income population of East Dallas, North East Dallas and the Downtown area with entrepreneurial support, business development, education, job training, and community events. The Center offers training seminars, workshops, technology access, and incubator space for startup businesses.

Small Business Development Center at the Bill J. Priest Campus of El Centro College.

Mission/Purpose: The Office of Small Business Development Centers (SBDC) provides management assistance to current and prospective small business owners. The North Texas SBDC offers one-stop assistance to individuals and small businesses by providing a wide variety of information and guidance in central and easily accessible branch locations. The program is a partnership program between the U.S. Small Business Administration and the Dallas County Community College.

South Dallas/Fair Park Trust Fund

Mission/Purpose: To catalyze social and economic development in South Dallas, the South Dallas Fair/Park Trust Fund makes grants and loans using a portion of the revenue generated by Fair Park, Texas' largest public attraction, along with other sources. The Fund allocates its resources primarily to the following areas:

  • Business and economic development initiatives
  • Housing and community development
  • Community service programs to provide job related and human service assistance

The Wilkinson Center

Mission/Purpose:
The Wilkinson Center's programs are two-tiered.  The first address the immediate family needs through emergency services such a Food Pantry.  Second tier programs begin to move families out of poverty with Adult Education Services and After-School Programming.  The Wilkinson Center serves between 15,000 and 20,000 each year.  Half those served are children.  One hundred percent of the Center's programs serve low-income families for whom hunger is a reality and homelessness is always a possibility.  The Wilkinson Center strives to offer hope and a hand-up to people living in poverty.

Women's Southwest Federal Credit Union 

Mission/Purpose: The Women's Southwest Federal Credit Union was established in an effort to provide equal access to financial services for women in Dallas, TX. This community development credit union operates under the guiding principles of self-help, shared ownership, participatory democracy, and pride in service. Today, WSFCU Dallas has approximately 600 members and a loan portfolio near $1 million.

YWCA of Metropolitan Dallas

Mission/Purpose: The YWCA strives to improve the lives of women and remove barriers to self sufficiency by offering educational resources focusing on topics such as financial literacy, parenting, and health issues. In 2006-07, they served more than 6,600 clients through core programs and outreach. Values central to the YWCA's purpose include:

Central Dallas Ministries

Mission/Purpose: Celebrating its 20th year of service to the community, CDM is one of the largest, most effective faith-based organizations in North Texas. CDM operates a network of hunger relief, healthcare, housing, legal service, employment training and educational programs serving more than 30,000 unduplicated people throughout the Greater Dallas area.
